Well it was 69 degrees this morning here in Phoenix and I was overjoyed with it, until about noon when it got back into the 90s (whjere it’s currently 93) - I decided to go surfing to see who had the best weather content and was pretty happy with Accuweather, most noteably they had a rather attractive looking quirky chick giving the weather here in Phoenix and explaining it, she did a pretty good job - it was excellent content.

I thought, “Wow, do they do this for all their sites?” so I picked a city at random, Portland, Maine. And boy am I glad I did!

Can we make this guy famous, please?

i think “you fled the social scene” sounds like a good name for a band, no?

oh, and if you haven’t added me to facebook, do so! life continues to be annoying, no real updates. i contacted paypal and they said it was my fault for not forcing insurance and that insurance was “a means to protect the seller, not the buyer” lol. next time you get pissed at a seller for forcing insurance on you, you’ll know why.

hopefully i can get a bonus from work or something so i can get a car soon, although i do love the bus. i just wish it didn’t take over two hours to get to work. i do plan on taking it more often which brings me to this:

***ATTENTION ASU STUDENTS!***

do you have a car/not take the bus very often? do you know you can get a bus pass for free? did you know jamie will buy you lunch if you get one for him?

who says there’s no free lunches in life, because this is one right here. but yeah, seriously. if you go to asu or know any friends that could get me a bus pass it would be greatly appreciated.

sometimes i am not so good waking up in the morning and coming to work.

is this something that the webternet could solve? this was something that i was wondering at 3 in the morning when i got up and did some googling, i found a couple of sites..

here are the ones i found for less than $5 a month:

http://snoozester.com/

snoozester offers a variety of delivery and repetition options for your wake up calls. when you select the secureawake feature, snoozester will attempt to call you every 3 minutes for 20 minutes until you answer the call and indicate that you are awake. costs about $4/month

http://rminder.com/

not so much a wake-up call service but a reminder service, will text or call you with any reminder you want. syncronizes with most online calenders. cost about $5/month

http://telepixie.com/

looks awful and has the least amount of features but is free, does wakeup calls and other services (joke of the day, etc)

http://morningmonkeys.com/

seems to be geared toward students mostly (or at least somebody with a sense of humor) seems to be very similar to the other services, even with price coming in at about $5/month. also features snooze.

http://iping.com/

iping seems to be the most versatile of the services, separating itself into four virtual characters, “mr.wakeup” will give you wakeup calls. the unique part of this service is you can choose what to wake up to, they offer the standards like weather/horoscopes to the strange.. waking up to tom green? they offer appointment reminders though “ms.reminder”, you can contact a bunch of people with “mr.notify” and most interestingly to me you can schedule medication reminders with “dr.dose” - which i felt was very innovative.

so far personally, snoozester seems to be the best with the secureawake feature, i’ll give telepixie a shot though as it’s free. i can’t help but feel like i’m missing something though. did i miss anything? there has to be other services out there that offer some sort of better call-me-and-wake-me-up solution, right?

with companies like google and free411 paving the way there has to be either something out there currently or on the horizon.

so much talk lately about the kathy sierra situation, and i don’t get it. a-list bloggers are even taking the week off!

for those of you who don’t know what i’m talking about; basically, there’s this woman who is a a-list blogger who is up in arms over two sites that were put up (now taken down- which is a controversy in itself as to who did it) and the comments on the site which included photoshopped pictures of her, hate mail, and some weak mean-spirited posts. yeah, that’s about it.

this is because certain people didn’t see her as credible and techie as others do. personally, i had never looked at this woman’s blog or the two others making fun of her but now that the story is all over the web, much of the content of those blogs is repeated and reposted. it most likely now has a larger audience due to the uproar than it ever had in its short web life.

i guess i see myself as a huge minority in all of this. maybe it’s just my generation but i don’t see what the big deal is. i think it’s kind of ridiculous that the police have gotten involved, that people are “shocked,” “appalled,” and made “sick to their stomachs” over what happened.

grow up.

this is the internet. welcome. are there assholes on the internet? yes.

is this news?

so some dude did some crappy photoshop pictures of you and said he wanted you to die. has this never happened to anybody before? i’ve had TONS of threats made against me, but i never saw it as a big deal.

if there’s something to get “shocked,” “appalled,” or made “sick to your stomach” over it’s the fact that many of the internet’s forefathers are coming out to say that the internet needs to be policed to counter such attacks.

the reaction of those defending kathy sierra may be excessive and unfair.

get some thicker skin.

those who find themselves asking this question can use the great firewall of china, a nifty tool to find out if your site or blog is banned in china.

both jamiemart.in and livejamie.com (the livejournal mirror of this site) are indeed blocked.

but hu jintao, you know i love you man! i thought we were tight?

i promise to stop spreading awful things about china, which is what my blog has pretty much been 24/7 for the last 7 years, and for that i sincerely apologize!

hopefully i can be unblocked soon so all my chineese fans can get their up to the minute updates on my WAY EXCITING life. i’d say they could just watch my twitter tweets, but twitter is blocked too!

china don’t you worry about being web 2.0? you’re never going to get on techcrunch’s front page at this rate.
