i think “you fled the social scene” sounds like a good name for a band, no?

oh, and if you haven’t added me to facebook, do so! life continues to be annoying, no real updates. i contacted paypal and they said it was my fault for not forcing insurance and that insurance was “a means to protect the seller, not the buyer” lol. next time you get pissed at a seller for forcing insurance on you, you’ll know why.

hopefully i can get a bonus from work or something so i can get a car soon, although i do love the bus. i just wish it didn’t take over two hours to get to work. i do plan on taking it more often which brings me to this:

***ATTENTION ASU STUDENTS!***

do you have a car/not take the bus very often? do you know you can get a bus pass for free? did you know jamie will buy you lunch if you get one for him?

who says there’s no free lunches in life, because this is one right here. but yeah, seriously. if you go to asu or know any friends that could get me a bus pass it would be greatly appreciated.

paypal provides no way to contact them about this, what a nightmare.

i was going to have a tough time paying the rent this month so i grudgingly put up my turntables up on ebay (as you may remember) - i was scared to ship them because they were 200+ pounds, i didn’t really have a chance so i did it.

the auction ended not meeting the reserve, but the dude wanted the tables so bad that he made an offer that wasn’t too terrible, i accepted it and shipped the tables netting a cool $800 in my paypal account - bills were going to be fine this month!

the buyer didn’t indicate any specifics in shipping and declined insurance through paypal. i shipped the tables promptly by taking them to the kwikship by my old house in mesa who carefully packed the tables away and they shipped off to colorado.

a couple days later the buyer emails me telling me the tonearm is loose and a light is missing off one of the tables. at this point i don’t really have any specific obligation to help him out, but i’m a nice guy - i tell him to get a quote to fix the tables and i’ll fix it.

then apparently the case comes and it’s been damaged to the point that it’s been taped together, and the guy is now pissed. i understand - i offer to fix the items again but now he wants to return the item.

but there isn’t really anything i can do, it’s not my fault - and i did not indicate a return policy on the item. the items were in very good shape as people who dropped by my house to see them can attest to and as the people at kwik ship can attest to, by opting out of insurance he kind of left him out of any recourse he had.

but that didn’t stop him, he filed a dispute with paypal saying the item was misrepresented. check this out:

I, [name removed], bout a turntable set from the ebay. When I looked at the decription first, it was saying its’ condition is new. Later on the buyer was telling me it is 8 months old, therefore i was thinking it as almost new condition. After the item came to me, the problem started to be happened. Turntable was broke, and coffin is almost destroyed, and so many other stuffs. The buyer is saying it’s shipping companies fault, but it is very hard to believe. If you want the picture of it, i can send it. … I was trying to contact the seller and try to figure way out to solve this problem, but he was not helpful until I report this as a dispute item. The answer hardly ever came. After all this suspicious movements that he has been made, I do not think I can trust him saying he sent the right stuff. All of the equipments that I bought is heavy and durable. Unless shipping company plays foot ball with it, I do not think it will break. Further more, he told me that he put the value of the items when he sent it out, and I don’t think companies like DHL and FEDex will doing such a disappointment job after seeing those values. The seller is saying it is my fault that i didn’t mention the insurance, but it seems like it was already calculated action after sending me destroyed items. I am a customer who just wanted to buy a stuff that was same as the description. I am willing to help you anything with this investigation.

paypal immediately freezes my account and i’m now overdrawn $800.

now i have to wait a month for a “paypal investigator” to make a decision.

lessons learned:

  • when selling anything worth more than $100, require insurance
  • when paypal money touches your account, get it into your bank account as soon as possible
  •  when you gut says ’sell these locally, don’t ship them’ believe it

i’ll be fine, i’ll just have to wait til tomorrow or monday when i get paid to pay the rent.

so i totally just made my house my bitch. after a couple of hours crawling under it, cutting my hands to shreds and contorting myself, i found the fabled silver plate!

this is all i need to now go to the DMV, have them pull my tax records and give me a title, ergo being able to sell my house. i’m sure there are now a billion more things i need to know that i have no way of foreseeing, but hopefully none of them involve crawling in any small spaces.

in other news, the suns are awesome, raining in the middle of the night is awesome, aquateen hungerforce colon movie film for theatres is awesome, claire sanchez is awesome, i’m poor but MY TURNTABLES ARE ALMOST GONE. they should have an hour left:

plz bid kthnx.

happiness is around the corner, i really really think it is.

well life is crazy isn’t it? work is going well, i really like it there it feels like they really enjoy my work. i really wish that the pay would catch up or the bonuses would come in like they were mentioned when i was first hired, money is very very tight.

speaking of which my letter has been sent off to the california dmv in order to re-title the second half of my house, so this house should be on the market in a month or so, which is very very exciting because i am so excited to move out of here and so excited for the dogs to have a backyard, plus it would help my money situation.

i’ve completely fallen in love with this house in downtown phoenix at 24th st and thomas:

“All offers subject to sellers lenders approval. Homestead historic district charmer. 3 Bd 2 bath 1,230 Sq ft Painted brick bungalow was remodeled in 05′ with all new kit, bths, lighting, plumbing fixtures, faux hardwood & tile floors, custom tile bths, dual pane windows, colonist doors, designer colors!Detached tandum 2cg & lg lush lot! Maple kit cabs, tile counters, upgraded appliances. This is a looker in a fantastic area just south of the biltmore. Bank valued this at $220,000. Very little work required. Needs carpet in bdrms, has a broken window, minor tlc makes this a showplace! Time is short please close fast. Combo box see realtor remarks for code.”

they’re asking for $150,000 and i think it would be really really perfect.

in similar news andrew is moving out, but he’s not telling me he is. he’s doing a ninja move an item out of his room every couple of days but not talk to me about it, it’s completely bizarre and it hurts my feelings kind-of. screw roommates.

in related news to the money situation i’m putting my turntables up for sale on ebay, so if you or anybody you know need some tables please check my auction out!

lastly, i have a new phone number through grandcentral that rings all my phone numbers at once and has a bunch of cool features which i’ll be writing about later but it’s (602) 412-1942 so that should be an easy number to get a hold of me at.

that and if you haven’t added me to twitter yet, please do so.. i’m livejamie. that’s all.

be on the lookout for my write-ups on twitter and grandcentral in the next week or so.
